When we visited The Yellow Roast in March, it was a red-hot new stall that served KL Sentral’s tastiest Cantonese roast meats. Weekday lunch crowds in the Q Sentral office tower flocked here for a hearty lunch and pleasant view from the 12th floor.
The Yellow Roast now seems to specialise in preorder services for pick-up and corporate deliveries for KL Sentral offices. If you love your chicken and pork tender and flavoursome, you’ll hit the jackpot.
The roasted chicken rice with egg is the ideal introduction (RM11, with a RM2 surplus for a drumstick serving), though the porridge is nearly its equal, creamy and steamy, scattered with shredded chicken, braised peanuts and preserved vegetables (RM8; add RM5 for a side of steamed drumstick).
Char siu (RM13) and spiced-up mala egg with tongue-tingling properties (RM3) are worthy add-ons; even the ginger-garlic and chilli sauces are notably delicious, fresh and thickly textured.
This visit and all photos taken were in early March 2020.
